BUILD WELL TO BE WELL
Quality Comes First
WE BUILD HEALTHY HOMES
“There is almost always a direct correlation between the biological compatibility of any building material and its ecological performance.” - Building Biology Institute
Following Nature’s principles, we strive to create health and wellness through the built environment. We do so by using healthy and natural building materials, passive design strategies, and working with nature, rather than against it. Optimizing natural light and ventilation with the colours and materials of nature create timeless and beautiful spaces.

Architectural & Building Consultation for building related sensitivities (MCS & EHS)

“What is striking about MCS is its prevalence. The Canadian Community Health Survey shows prevalence figures of 599,000 in 2005, 800,000 in 2010 and 722,000 in 2014. We have the advantage of seeing prevalence figures for 2015 (940,000) and for 2016 (just over 1,000,000 people).”

Healthy Design-Build
– Following the concept “what is truly healthy for us will also be healthy for the enivironment,” a building should nurture the health of the occupants and the environment. The two are often co-related.
– Buildings constructed of natural materials and finishes, free of untested and harmful chemicals.
– Buildings constructed for durability and longevity, with a successful history of use. A building should be constructed to sustain several centuries of use with very little maitenance.
SUCCESSFUL HISTORY OF USE
– Buildings designed with passive strategies focusing on natural light, fresh air, radiant heating, passive cooling, and interior ion balance.
– Buildings designed to understand and respect water. Using natural hygroscopic buildings materials that create interior humidity and moisture control balance.
Why choose Build Well to Be Well?
– We specialize in healthy and natural buildings and have a collective team of experienced architects, designers, and builders.
-“You pay what we pay” – no additional fees associated with material costs, which help offset our design and construction management fees.
– We provide a follow up inspection 1 year after the project is complete to ensure the building is working and performing the way it should be.
– Our team has two Algonquin College professors as well as a growing number of building biologists, who are continuously educating, learning, and enabling the practices of healthy and natural building.
What is the significance of a healthy building?
– “In recent years, comparative risk studies performed by EPA and its Science Advisory Board (SAB) have consistently ranked indoor air pollution among the top five environmental risks to public health” – EPA.
– Creating a healthy, natural, and fully accessible building ensures that everyone can occupy that building, including those suffering from MCS or EHS.
– With the philosophy “build it once to last,” a natural building, if built correctly, will nurture its occupants for multiple life times.
